Best of 2014: Body & Hair

January 05, 2015

Today is the last instalment of my best of series, and i've loved sharing my favourite products from the past year. In todays post, i'm talking about my favourite hair and body products from this past year.
When it comes to hair and body products, I have a lot within my stash and i'm one of those people that has more than one of everything on the go so it was really difficult narrowing down my favourites for this one. Again, i'm still loving a lot of the same products as last year, but i've really narrowed down the types of products that I need, over products that I want.

Starting with hair care and this year i've really found some gems when it comes to shampoo and conditioning products. I've learnt that my hair needs two types of shampoo, one to cleanse and remove any build up from the roots and another to nourish and restore my dry mid to end lengths, whilst maintaining the colour at the same time. The cleansing shampoo comes from one of my favourite budget hair brands, Tresemme who I always turn to when on the hunt for a certain hair product. Their Multi Vitamin Deep Cleansing Shampoo (£3.89) has been a firm favourite and a constant repurchase throughout the past year. It works so well to remove all the dirt and build up that I get around my root area, whilst also giving my hair a good wash. I use this once or twice a week, as to when I feel my hair needs a really good deep wash and its so affordable compared to other cleansing shampoos. When it comes to managing my dry ends, and maintaining the colour this product comes from a new favourite of mine, Redken. For the last few months their Colour Extends Magnetics Shampoo* (£10.25) has been my go to as it does everything I need to do for my hair. It protects the colour, but also leaves my hair feeling nourished, soft and smelling pretty great also. I also like that I can use this on my roots, as I usually find that a lot of shampoos make my roots look greasy, but this one doesn't one bit - so a big thumbs up from me.

When it comes to styling products, there have only been a couple of stand out products this year and these two are ones that I use pretty much on a daily basis. I couldn't not feature a product from Lee Stafford, his hair care is just amazing and the Hair Growth Leave-in-Treatment (£11.99) is recent addition but one that I wish i'd found sooner. I'm always using conditioning products to try and give my hair that little extra nourishment and I find leave in products to be the best, and this one is exactly what my hair needs. Spritzing this through my hair when its damp or when its dry, helps to soften the hair and I find it also stops so much breakage from my split ends - I wouldn't say it's a miracle product, but it has definitely helped my hairs overall condition over the past month or so. My other favourite styling product comes from Bumble & Bumble and their Hairdressers Invisible Oil Primer (£19) is like no other product i've used before. It's one of those products that does everything you'd want it to, as it controls frizz, softens and detangles, tames fly aways, protects against heat and breakage, eases styling and also protect against UV. What more could you want from a hair product right? It also smells flipping amazing!

Moving onto body products and this year i've loved so many different products so narrowing it down to three was difficult, but I went with the ones that i've used and have gone back to. I of course had to feature a product from Soap & Glory, as I love their body products, especially their Orangeasm Body Wash (£6.50). When they released this earlier this year I literally fell in love with the scent when I first smelt it, as it's so refreshing and zingy that the scent lingers all day - definitely one to try. Another product from S&G that i've loved is their Whipped Clean Shower Butter (£7). I've been using this to give my skin a little extra moisture, but it also works great as a shaving cream as it leaves the skin feeling really soft compared to other shaving products that often leave my skin feeling dry. I also love that this smells just liked whipped cream and feels so lovely on the skin.

Lastly my favourite body product has to be my favourite perfume of the year and of course it comes from Marc Jacobs, as I love his perfumes. I've enjoyed a few of his this year but Daisy Dream 100ml (£62.50) has got to be my favourite from the year. I love the packaging of this bottle and the fresh fruity scent is so refreshing compared to his other scents, which I love as its something different.

So those are the last of my favourites from the year. I hope you guys have enjoyed seeing all of the products that I have used and may have also found some new products to try.

What hair and body products have you loved this past year?

Just wondering, but how long do the soap and glory body washes last? I'm trying to figure out if they are worth the price for me! :)

They last quite a long time actually, I can have one on the go for a good 2 months or so! I'd say they are worth the money and they always have 3for2 offers going on, so maybe get a few then? xx
