Halloween Cupcakes
October 30, 2014
With it being Halloween this weekend, I wanted to do some sort of halloween themed post but I had no idea what to do as makeup tutorials are not really my thing, especially when it comes to costume makeup, as I suck. Baking however, I don't suck too much at so I thought in the spirit of halloween, i'd get ingredients together and make some halloween cupcakes.
Now I cheated a little bit with the decorations, but come on.. who doesn't every now and then?! I started by following a pretty simple recipe for vanilla cupcakes, which i've left all of the details for down below, so if you want to make your own, then feel free.
Ingredients
110g Butter/Margarine (I just used ordinary butter, ya' know the stuff you use on toast).
110g Caster Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
110g Self Raising Flour
1 Tablespoon Milk
How To Make These Cupcakes
Step 1. Preheat oven to around 180C and line cupcake cases in a muffin tray.
Step 2. Cream together the butter and sugar, and then beat in the eggs, whilst also adding the vanilla extract.
Step 3. Fold in the flour and add the milk until the mixture is well beaten.
Step 4. Spoon the mixture into the cupcake cases until they are about half full.
Step 5. Then pop them in the oven for around 15 minutes, until lightly browned.
Step 6. Leave to cool, and then decorate as you wish.
Like I mentioned, I cheated when it came to the decorating as I pre bought the frosting and sprinkles from Aldi, as they had a great range of halloween baking bits. As you can see, I simply added the frosting to the cupcakes and then sprinkled on some decorations, but you can decorate yours however you wish.
This year i'm going to a halloween party, as the past two years i've spent halloween in Cardiff with my friends at uni so this year is a little different to usual but i'm really looking forward to it. I'm going as a cat, surprise surprise, but I thought i'd change it up from my zombie schoolgirl look that I always go for.
What are you doing/dressing up as for halloween?
